Association with the club (Player/Official) & period of involvement:
Board member – 1986, 87, 88, 94, 95. General Manager 2002. President 1989, 90.
Post South Bunbury Life:
Still very actively involved with the Club. I do league interchange at all home games. Still attend most games and social functions.
Position Played: Never played for SBFC
Best South Player and Coach you’ve seen:
Player – Leon Baker
Coach – Doug Peake
Most memorable incident/experience at the club:
Receiving the league Premiership Cup as President in 1989. And the bitter memories of finishing last the next year along with the ensuring financial troubles of the time. The most memorable is definitely receiving Life Membership in 2002 – something I will never forget!!
Earliest memory/association with the club:
Attending games with my grandfather from the age of 5 or 6 years – have always been a supporter. Joined as a member in 1975.
Additional Comments (Eg. Fondest memory, favourite character around the club, most despised opposition, etc):
Favourite character: Lyle “Have a shot” James. Fond memories of the premierships of the 80’s and some great Directors functions in the late 80’s. I have also made some great friends over the years and met some wonderful people.
Other family members who have/had some association with South Bunbury Football Club:
My grandfather Archie Dawson whose support of SBFC led me to being a supporter at a very early age.
My wife, Sue – a Crabb Medalist – who has worked in many areas of the Club for more than 20 years.
My daughters, Rachael and Kate who have both helped over my years of involvement.
Can I say that it has been an honour and a privilege to be involved at the SBFC – there have been tremendous highs, and pretty ordinary lows, but overall I have and still do, love my association with the Tigers.
